Remembering. . . .

OK, I don't know if it's the fact that it's been 20 years (!!!!!) or that I had brain surgery in December, but I find that it's hard to remember which names go with which faces (Dale, of course, is always memorable). It's so interesting to meet all these "new" people with much in common.

Given my grey (and receding) hair, it is hard to imagine that you can remember me. You look as young as you did 20 years ago - minus the "fish" dress of course.

I'm trying to imagine what your class would be like. You're such an intellectual. We basically count using our fingers and toes in my class. Usually, a few grunts can be heard from students.

Kristin,

I had no idea that you had a brain tumor and had it removed. I am not exactly "plugged in" to the latest news, but usually word of significant life events such as this travels. I am very glad that you are on the other side of this and that the outcome was a good one. I can't imagine what it was like for you, but thank you for sharing your story. Here's to good health into the future.

Dale--ah the green fish dress. I think I saw it in my mom's closet when I helped my folks move back to MN from Kansas a couple of years ago. . . I think she kept the one I wore to prom with Karl Anderson, too ( I always wonder what happened to him--and Jon Roscoe). But of course the pictures (& the fun) were better with you! :-)

Barbara, thanks for the snaps. I haven't talked to anyone from NB since Dale put up this blog. I didn't know I had a gianormous tumor until about 6 months ago. . .my students took it kind of hard. To help them out Mike created a blog for me, and I wrote about it for my students, and put up pix of my MRI slides and everything. We're full service educators here at Hamline!--Always making everything an "educational" experience. I guess I have the first draft of something; maybe my next book . . .

Dale, like you should be talking about being an "intellectual" you dept. chair you. But my Endowed Chair trumps your dept. chair, I guess, so I'll have to stick with the title of intellectual. ;-)
