Hey Everyone!

Dale,

Snaps to you for getting this put together. & Snaps to Kristi for working on the 20-year. Good to hear from some of the guys I used to run around with. As for me, I'm teaching at Hamline University, and my husband Mike is a librarian at Augsburg College. We've been back in MN living in Columbia Heights (his old neighborhood) since the fall of 2001. Wow, has it been that long since NBSH? Hard to believe. It will be interesting to see how everyone has changed and what everyone is doing.

Love,
Kris

Hi Kris Mapel! Hi Kris Mapel! Glad to hear you're doing well! Hamline, eh? What are you teaching? Loving the campus life? Do tell!

Jon! I got my Ph.d. abut the same time as Drbuske, but at Nebraska (go Huskers--ha!). Taught in Kansas for a while, then got the job back here at my alma mater, Hamline, a good Methodist institution. I currently direct the women's studies program (anyone surprised?) and hold an endowed chair in the Humanities. Only sounds partially fancy, but I LOVE my students, they are awesome. The ones who like me call me PDKMB for Professor Dr. Kristin Mapel Bloomberg. It's cute. Mostly I live in the nineteenth century, and teach courses on women's history, and pioneer women of the great plains. We don't have any kids, but I'm collecting them year by year as my "kids" grow up and go out into the world to do great things. . .

I'm dying to know what everyone is up to, I don't even know anyone's married names: Renee Strong, Candy Falk, etc. I bet we're all such different people than we were when we were kids 20 years ago.

You're out East? What are you up to?

I would guess there are some differences from 20 years ago, but maybe not as many as we would think. Nobody would have guessed that I would have gone on to direct a women's studies program (and they would have been right, I didn't do that...or even contemplate it). Believe it or not, some might have even seen me as a "math geek".

Kris, I bet your husband is jealous of your 1986 prom date. Perhaps I should send him a photo of you in your "fish" dress?

While Dale may be correct in assuming that major changes are few, I think all those changes at the margins are collectively very interesting.

PDKMB, for some reason I picture you completely at home in academia! It sounds as if you've found your calling!

As for me, I'm living in Kittery, Maine (an hour north of Boston) with my wife Deb, a veterinarian, my 15 year old Collie Abbey, our 2 year old Yellow Lab Nolan, and our cat Toula. I work with a group of friends at a very small, very busy environmental consulting company. Primarily, we conduct assessments and restoration projects for damage from oil spills and boat and ship groundings, however we also provide policy support and analysis for various environmental agencies. Its really great because even though we have clients around the world, I get to work from home. And I really dig that commute!

There it is -- Discher in a nutshell. Now I wonder what Kylara Sinclair would think of all this ...

Hi Kris...

It's good to hear from you. Every time I see Bill Burgin (maybe 1-2 times a year), he still brags about you.

I'm glad things are going well and it would be fun to sit in one of your classes and watch you teach.

Take care...

Justin.
